Widgetbox at SXSW Interactive – Vote for Matt Basta and Will Price!
For those of you who have been to the SXSW Interactive Festival before, you know how great it is. Well, Widgetbox has been nominated to speak at 2 panels there, and we need your help to make it happen! Community voting counts for 30% of how the panels are chosen, and voting ends on August 29th. If all of you take 2 minutes and vote for us, I think we can make it happen.
Please vote for these two awesome panels:
Widget Warriors: Dominating the Web by Building It
What’s with all the widget hype? For many of us, they’re just annoying applications on Facebook. Hear from the teens and 20-somethings who are building widgets to understand how these portable pieces of the web represent a much greater opportunity for today’s generation of Internet users and the advertisers who want to reach them
This panel features our very own Matt Basta, known better to most of you as Bastawhiz. He has been a Widgetbox widget developer since the very beginning of widget time (that’s 2006), and he has joined us as an intern this summer. Matt is a super talented developer, and what many of you may not know is that he is 18 years old. His work speaks for itself, and we would love to see him highlighted at this incredibly popular festival!
The second panel we are nominated for is:
Cage Match: Battle of the Widget Business Model
Eye-popping valuations for widget companies have given new urgency to a debate that’s been around as long as web widgets have: Other than being acquired, how does one build a successful business on widgets? This panel will allow the top widget CEOs to defend their models — and answer tough questions.
This panel features our rockin’ CEO Will Price, and we think it would be a great and informative (and much needed!) discussion about just how to monetize widgets.
So, please help us out and vote. If you don’t have an account for the SXSW Interactive Panel Picker, you will need one to be able to vote. You can sign up (for free) here.
