New Pregnancy Countdown & Calendar Widget

10 February 2009 9,474 views 29 Comments

There are several widgets intended to help families monitor and follow the progress of a friend’s or relative’s pregnancy. Pampers has now added another terrific Pregnancy Countdown Widget – but what makes this one so unique and useful is the depth of information provided about each week during the pregnancy. In fact, each week has multiple tips and informational tidbits.

The Pregnancy Countdown widget is also customizable. You can set the baby’s name and expected date of birth.

The three pregnancy countdown widgets presented at widgedbox.com include:

    1) Baby Countdown Timer & Weekly Report (by mannj24)
    2) Pregnancy Calendar Widget (by FortuneBaby.com(
    3) Pregnancy Countdown Ticker (by WhatToExpect.com

While I had no problem customizing and installing the pregnancy count tickers Baby Countdown Timer & Weekly Report (by mannj24) and the Pregnancy Calendar Widget (by FortuneBaby.com), the Pregnancy Countdown Ticker (by WhatToExpect.com) countdown widget requires the user to enter their email address first. I tried that, but the result was a long and weary trip through advertizing web sites that made me finally give up.

It is no wonder that this particular countdown timer, the “Pregnancy Countdown Timer from WhatTo Expect.com” appears to have been installed only 55 times, compared to 4,416 and 1,923 installs for the other two pregnancy countdown timers presented on the web page (on the date of writing this review October 2008).

It is unfortunate that this pregnancy ticker is so complicated (at least for me!) to install since it seems to provide a lot of pregnancy information, including daily tips and baby names. According to the web site, these are the three top rated pregnancy countdown widgets – and the one I had trouble using is the most top rated.

The other two pregnancy countdown widgets (Baby Countdown Timer & Weekly Report and the Pregnancy Calendar Widget) presented at Widgetbox.com are easy to use and the instructions are very clear.

A great help for expectant mothers. No wonder giving birth is no longer that “scary” because of self-help like this.
