New, Improved Installer And Other Great Stuff

Widgetbox took a short break from rolling out brand-new stuff and spent some time polishing up some of our old comfy features that you already know and love.

Here's how it breaks down:

  • Improved installer (a.k.a. the Get Widget menu)

  • Improved Get Widget button

  • Improved MySpace linking

  • Flash widgets now support ActionScript 3

  • Better search, 100's of other improvements

Let's talk about each of these.

The Installer
Take a look at the new installer that follows every widget, new and old, out into the wild.

It's pretty.  But does it have brains?  Yes!  Some of its tricks:

  • It's fast.

  • It often knows what website you're on (Facebook/ MySpace/ etc) and puts that install option first.

  • Now more than ever, it can squeeze down over tiny widgets and still be usable.

  • As always, isn't tripped up by popup blockers.  A few other widget installation systems have this problem.

The Get Widget Button

The Get Widget button is more prominent yet magically blends with any page background (color/texture), like a glowing chameleon.

MySpace Linking

The MySpace softkey buttons are now translucent, so they work better with all backgrounds.  Also, we improved the animation on our softkey buttons so that it's more obvious what to do when clicking links.
More on MySpace linking.

Flash ActionScript 3 Support

And finally, most important to many of you, Flash widgets built in ActionScript 3 will now fully work in Widgetbox!

Better search, 100's of other improvements

We've made 100's of other improvements, such as even better relevancy in search results, visual tweaks, and things that will make your widgets more findable by search engines.
