New Site Makes Online Yard-Sales Easy
Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 8:23AM Recently our office manager had some everyday household items to sell and instead of turning to her old standby of Craigslist, decided to try a new selling site called Yardsellr. After spreading the word about the new site around the office, we decided that a site that combined our passion for both yard-sales and social media just had to be shared with our Widgetbox friends.
Yardsellr is an online market place where buying and selling is super easy, a lot of fun, and free. Founded by a former eBay employee—the idea behind Yardsellr is to provide a community where everyday people can trade with one another, kind of like a yardsale. Unlike Craigslist—Yardsellr is a smaller selling site based on the seller's personal connections, making it easier for buyers to find great deals and sellers to quickly sell their items to trusted contacts.
One of the things we liked the most about Yardsellr was its emphasis on "social selling", spreading the word about items for sale within your online "neighborhood". Listings are promoted through social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Google making it easy for friends and friends of friends to view sale items. On Facebook for example, sellers create their own listing page for their "yard-sale" and can then message all their contacts to view the Facebook page where all of their items for sale are listed.
If you're looking to sale some items, and wanna give "social sharing" a try, check out yardseller.
