Kindle or iPad?
Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 12:30PM
Amazon today announced a new smaller, lighter version of the Kindle to be listed at $139. This new price is the all-time lowest price for the Kindle device, pricing it well below all other e-readers, including Sony's and Barnes and Noble's. Amazon President Jeff Bezos remarked of the new price, "At $139, if you’re going to read by the pool, some people might spend more than that on a swimsuit and sunglasses,”.
Of course the $499 iPad is much more than simply an e-reader, but the New York Times reports that for many consumers it comes down to a choice between Kindle or iPad. So this got us over here at Widgetbox thinking, Is the iPad worth the $499? Or is all the additional design and functionality that come with the higher price tag unnecessary? Take our poll and post comments to let us know your thoughts!
