Sure QR (quick response) codes have been around for years, but they are only now starting to gain traction. Forget the old way of sharing your URL or web app with customers. The rapid expansion of smartphones in the US is creating new ways of distributing information. While QR codes and scanners have been used in Japan and other countries for years, QR code scanner software (which act similar to UPC scanner apps on mobile phones) is finally making it possible for US smartphone users to view a QR code via their camera.

This month we added a new feature to our
Video Gallery widget that makes it even easier to showcase single videos.
The Slideshow format is our newest display type for the Video Gallery widget. Along with our existing Filmstrip, Gallery, and List display types it allows you to easily display your video content in a professional-looking widget. The Slideshow format gives you the option to showcase your video content one video at a time without any thumbnails appearing. In true slideshow fashion, the new format allows viewers to click through your video content by clicking "next" and "previous".
As part of Widgetbox's new staff series—we'll be bringing you occasional guest posts from members of the Widgetbox team.

We are living through a media revolution on a scale not seen in 400 years. The paper-bound book is set to disappear in a few years time. The encyclopedia already has. Newspapers and magazines are having to reinvent themselves in order to survive. The music industry has been rocked to its foundations. Gaming has taken on an importance in people’s lives that no one could have imagined.
