If you've never checked out BusinessWeek's "CEO Guide to Technology" podcast series, now is a great time! Their most recent podcast is all about widgets , and it features Hummer Windblad Venture Partners Managing Director Will Price . Will is an observer on the Widgetbox board, and has been a great contributor to the company.
I really like the way Will frames the challenges facing the widget market as it moves from infancy into adulthood (or at least becomes a teenager...). He talks a lot about the need for internet marketers to "go where the fish are," which means finding creative and successful ways to reach where audiences are congregating online, and then speaking to those audiences in their own terms. This requires both marketers and widget companies to join together and experiment around ways to make this successful, and will also require marketers to stretch beyond their comfort zones when it comes to internet advertising.
All I can say is that it was an exciting time to enter the widget market when we did almost 2 years ago, and it gets more and more exciting by the day!
